Job Description


Responsible for directing and coordinating the overall manufacturing operations of the facility, which includes pulp, power, paper, logistics and maintenance. Ensures continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency, in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, to produce products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Operates the facility's assets to maximize profitability, and leads people effectively to promote a highly trained and engaged workforce.

Accountabilities:

Safety/Environmental


  • Drives safety and environmental responsibility within the operating departments.

  • Makes safety a top priority by communicating, participating and supporting safety efforts, and ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.

  • Ensures support of corporate safety initiatives.

  • Reviews all safety incidents in the department and participates in the root cause failure analysis.

  • Tours daily for safety compliance and observation of employees.

  • Guides and develops supervisors to manage crews in the area of safe work practices.

Operations


  • Direct responsibility for the manufacturing operation.

  • Ensures effective utilization of all resources.

  • Develops short and long range manufacturing objectives consistent with Verso's Strategy, Mission and Vision.

  • Establishes goals for specific operational performance consistent with mill and company objectives.

  • Drives execution of initiatives to support those goals.

  • Creates accountability for the achievement of the goals.

  • Directs the development of capital and operating budgets.

  • Ensure the optimization of the production processes and related material/production workflow.

  • Maintains a customer/quality focus within all manufacturing departments.

  • Supports and champions a culture of continuous improvement.





Job Requirements


Minimum Required Experience and Education:


  • Bachelor s degree in pulp paper science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field experience.

  • 7 - 10 years of related paper, operational, or manufacturing/industrial experience.

  • Proven leader with experience in achieving results.
