Sr. Linux Systems Administrator

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator with Sabre Systems, Inc. you will be supporting one of the Navy's most technologically sophisticated aircraft platforms, the E6-B, at Patuxent River, MD. The Linux Systems Administrator will have experience building, configuring, and troubleshooting systems in a Linux and Windows environment. This individual must work in accordance with NAVAIR and DISA policy, and industry best practices.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

Installing, configuring, and managing the Linux operating systems and related tool sets supporting NAVAIR. This includes gathering requirements, developing and conducting design reviews, along with "as approved" implementations within the mainstream corporate infrastructure. Keeping servers "compliant" per NAVAIR and DISA policies to include backup and disaster recovery requirements, anti-virus protection, and implementing system security. Knowledge of backup plans and rotation cycles. Maintaining the information on the Knowledge Base site. Producing documentation that details and describes the systems, procedures, events, and any associated processes. Building new infrastructure servers. Maintaining, tuning, and patching systems for optimum performance and security. Migrating or upgrading systems, where applicable. Participating in weekly routine maintenance tasks. Responding to system failures promptly to bring applications back online.

Qualifications

Seven (7) years' or more of hands-on experience working with UNIX/Linux and Windows
• Experience in DoD Information Assurance/Cyber policy and procedures to include hardening of systems, implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and scanning


• Experience with Linux Server to include the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as addressing, service requests, routine sever maintenance (firmware, failures, hardening, etc.), and server consolidation


• Experience with UNIX/Linux, Red Hat, CentOS (Linux)


• Windows experience optional


• Virtualization experience preferred


• Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting methods


• DoD 8570 compliant (Security + certified and OS certificate/certification)


• Working knowledge of supporting software development


• Critical thinking skills and the ability to "think-outside-the-box" to solve complex technical issues is essential


• Candidate must have a current DoD Secret Clearance or higher


• Candidate must pass a background investigation
