The Oak Ridge National Laboratory's (ORNL) Integrated Operations Support Division is seeking qualified applicants for an Electrical Drafting Designer. The Electrical Drafting Designer will provide support to the Facilities and Operations Configuration Management Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Electrical Distribution drawings. Incorporate comments provided by Electrical Utilities' Subject Matter Experts.


• Develop and maintain Fire Protection Engineering drawings including Fire Alarm System drawings, Fire Barrier drawings, Sprinkler drawings and Hazardous Material Classification Area drawings. Incorporate comments provided by Fire Protection's Subject Matter Experts. Support Configuration Management documentation.


• Develop and maintain Fiber Network drawings for site areas and facilities. Incorporate comments provided by Instrumentation and Control's Subject Matter Experts.


• Support Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) by maintaining and providing Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) data in accordance with ORNL CAD standards and ensure interoperability between information systems.


• Create and maintain a variety of maps and graphics


• Create demolition and new construction plans


• Support Work Planning/Control and Information Systems Teams by testing, troubleshooting and providing general support for information system development and various continuous process improvement initiatives.


• Abide by the principles of Safe Conduct of Research including being personally responsible for ensuring safe operations by raising safety concerns, using a questioning attitude, considering hazards for every task, and never stop learning.

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting and Design or other relevant technical field


• A minimum of five years of experience in Electrical Drafting and Design


• Extensive experience using Bentley MicroStation CAD software


• Extensive experience using Bentley ProjectWise Engineering Document Management System (or similar application)


• Familiarity with Esri GIS applications


• Experience working with ORNL's CAD standards and configuration management process

Preferred Qualifications:

• A working knowledge of both federal and Department of Energy (DOE) regulations


• Proven ability to interact with both Engineers and non-technical staff to develop Engineering drawings and documents


• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit applications
