Job Description




The Power System Development unit is responsible for developing the power electronics hardware and software that is integrated into the power systems in U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion plants. The successful candidate will be required to carry out hardware development activities to design, test, deploy, and troubleshoot power electronics hardware and will be a key player in developing the vision and advanced architecture concepts for the next generation of power electronics hardware.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

- Becoming subject matter expert on design, testing and troubleshooting of our cognizant hardware products

- Collaborate with stakeholder organizations to identify and address technical issues occurring during development, integration, and deployment of cognizant products.

- Analog, digital, and FPGA advanced concept analysis and proof of concept testing

- Maintenance and development of functional requirements

- Development of test procedures and test setups, and performing laboratory testing of power electronics hardware to verify requirements and prove robustness of design

- Developing, evaluating, and testing power electronics and control concepts for next generation applications.






Required Skills



Senior:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or

  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or

Principal:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience; or

  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience; or







Preferred Skills





  • BS Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a teaming environment

  • Demonstrated can-do approach, self-motivation and personal accountability

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems, embedded systems development, detectors/sensors, or power electronics
