The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
Plans and Manages all aspect of USAC MSD Field Service inventories, including RME, spare parts and disposables to ensure effective availability in support of USAC MSD Field service operations and commercial go to market strategies.  Partners with Global and Activation Marketing, Global Supply Chain, and others as required to ensure appropriate inputs and business case support for demand planning inputs, required timing and execution of procurement actions.  Builds annual budget requirements, including supporting ROI models for annual inventory investment requests.  Partners with Commercial Leaders and 3rd party partners to drive effective and accurate operational execution of allocated inventory programs.

  • Determines directions, priorities and assigns resources with full accountability for inventory results within the USAC MSD Field Service Department.

  • Responsible for establishing budget plan models and inputs for appropriate Field Service Inventory planning and commercial execution for Reusable Medical equipment, associated spare parts and supplies, and related consumables within the USAC MSD Field service network.

  • Develops deployment strategies and Implements action plans to ensure adequate level of inventory and supply across the USAC Field Service Center and customer networks in support of go to market models.

  • Provides leadership and consultative direction to USAC MSD Field Service and Commercial leadership on complex go to market deployment inventory impacts required investments.

  • Champions, Initiates, develops and directs multiple projects and programs of major importance and consequence, including setting priorities and meeting project objectives with focus of improved customer experience and while optimizing inventory ROI.

  • Directly influences major supply chain improvements with business unit management having national and regional impact.

  • Owns operational execution of inventory with 3rd party partnerships, to include provision, cycle counting and reconciliation, recovery and disposition of inventory.

  • Partners with Field Service Operations to understand local dynamics, improve and clarify processes to drive improved inventory performance and ROI with an focus on improved customer experience.

  • Applies advanced leadership skills to support employee growth by motivating, training, directing and mentoring employees.

  • Serves as change agent and manages evolution of an integrated supply chain infrastructure at a corporate level.

  • Partners as primary contact with 3M MSD Global Supply Chain Planning in coordination of commercial and business requirements and manufacturing inputs and inventory related disputes.

  • Oversees and develops core KPIs for inventory performance to enable tactical and strategic inventory management actions.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Eight (8) years of Operations Management experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Master’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Six Sigma / Lean certification / experience- Green Belt or higher.

  • Superior people and project management skills, including planning, organizational skills and ability to motivate, coach, counsel, train and direct various teams

  • Expert level knowledge of multi-site network inventory planning & management

  • Strong critical thinking skills and a creative problem-solving skill set

  • Analytical business and financial skills including extensive process management skills

  • Organize and prioritize multiple projects / initiatives simultaneously

  • Skills in written and oral communication, including higher level corporate presentations and group facilitation

  • Familiarization with Rental product logistics

  • Experience with medical device regulations

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international travel

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
