Position Summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to help drive the people agenda for a growing and evolving industrial brewery? Do you enjoy building strong relationships and growing an organization’s capabilities? If so, this may be the role you’ve been seeking! As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play a vital role in the functional, and transactional support of the business. This includes administration of staffing & recruitment efforts, assisting with employee relations matters, supporting policies and procedures, providing general employee customer service, and always ensuring compliance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to assist with special company-wide human resources projects, as needed. Your client group will be all Operations employees at the Daleville Brewery in Botetourt County, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Full Life Cycle Recruiting and Staffing Support:
• Lead the recruiting process for all non-exempt (hourly) roles at the facility. Partner with hiring management and site leadership in anticipating and defining the need to fill positions.
• Work with management teams to update or craft a job description, and then consult with the Corporate Compensation Team to appropriately grade and scope roles, if necessary.
• Post jobs on relevant job boards, career sites, social media platforms, and other platforms, actively attempting to engage talent and assisting in building a robust pipeline of talent for our hourly Operations roles.
• Help maintain an up-to-date catalog of Job Descriptions for all roles in the facility.
• Proactively track, monitor, and communicate progress on recruiting progress with hiring management, offering support as needed.
• Partner with hiring managers for selection decisions and extending offers to candidates, in consult with our Employee Call Center (ECC) Team. • Support hiring managers with recruiting assistance including but not limited to posting job openings, reviewing resumes; scheduling and/or participating in interviews; and following up with candidates, as appropriate.
• Coach hiring management in best practice recruiting techniques (e.g., behavioral/competency-based interviewing).
• Craft and send comprehensive emails to candidates with information about the company and position, including work schedule, dress code, and “first day” details.
• Prepare onboarding packets and facilitate New Hire Onboarding with employees within their first week of employment.
• Ensure new hires receive technical assistance to properly set up their company email, access to systems, and hardware, as appropriate.
• Lead termination processes, submitting exit paperwork and ensuring terminations are processed in a timely fashion.
• Review third-party exit interview data from departing employees, and routinely analyze responses.

Employee Relations:
• Responsible for the on-site, day-to-day support of employee relations, assisting with disciplinary matters, and providing coaching support to management team.
• Consult with HR Manager on disciplinary matters such as employee investigations, involuntary termination requests, and Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) development, escalating situations for discussion and review at the Corporate level, whenever necessary. • Facilitate the execution of HR strategy and programs/initiatives under the direction of the HR Manager.
• Provide procedural and coaching support to managers on annual processes such as Goal Setting, Performance Management, and Salary Planning.
• Coordinate annual Open Enrollment for the location, managing the communication and enrollment process.
• Work with Corporate Benefits and Workers’ Comp partners to manage employee disability claims, Workers’ Comp, & leave requests, supporting the interactive process with local employees.
• Champion and drive communication across the facility using various mediums – create and post flyers, update TV monitor announcements using Appspace program, send email correspondence, and provide verbal reminders to staff regarding important business announcements and company deadlines.
• In consult with HR Manager and local management team, execute action planning and delivery of on-site employee recognition, wellness programs, and team building activities.
• Ensure all HR records and postings meet Federal, State, and local requirements.

HR Administrative Support:
• Provide ad-hoc Payroll support, working in consult with Corporate Payroll Team to resolve employee concerns and manage any non-routine pay items.
• Direct employee transactional matters concerning benefits, payroll support, leaves of absence, Workers’ Comp claims, and other general inquiries to the Employee Call Center (ECC) team, as necessary.
• Work with the ECC Team to ensure employee file data is processed and recorded accurately in Workday: department transfers, salary changes, promotions, terminations, uploading documents, etc.
• Assist in driving completion of Annual Compliance Training to all team members, supporting additional training efforts, as needed.
• Support the HR Manager with special projects, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED, and 2 years of HR, recruiting, and/or office administration experience.
• An approachable, customer-focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to handle challenging situations, sensitive information, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong computer skills and experience using all programs on Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be successful in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to accomplish assignments, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to build relationships with leadership, management, and employees across all levels of the business.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP and/or PHR).
• Previous Recruiting or HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing operation setting.
• Human Resource Information System (HRIS) systems experience; preferably, with Workday.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time. • Although duties are primarily conducted in an office setting, on-site work is conducted in a manufacturing plant, where personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and non-slip, chemical-resistant shoes are expected to be always worn in select areas of the plant.
• Willingness to work in an industrial warehouse environment around machinery, forklift traffic, and loud noises.

Travel
Occasional local travel (<5% of the time) is required for this position.
