The IT Director will manage and supervise the organization's technical operations which includes overseeing IT department employees and ensuring all technology systems and applications support the organization's goals and objectives. The IT Director is responsible for managing the resolution of application and system issues that arise across a business. He/She will both utilize business skills and technical IT knowledge and have an ability to manage multiple high-level tasks under pressure.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Include the following key areas and duties, which may be modified or increased as necessary:
Strategy & Planning
Develop long-term strategy around system design and integration to ensure a cohesive and efficient IT environment.
Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
Developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs.
Oversee all technology operations (e.g., network security) and evaluate them according to established goals.
Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by executive management.
Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency.
Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management.
Supervise members of the IT department and provide guidance to the department.
Control budget and report on expenditure
Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts .
Consult senior-level stakeholders across the entire organization to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology.
Possessing specialist knowledge of operating systems, devices, applications and software
Assisting with systems integrations
Managing ticketed query system and ensuring comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is kept up to date.
Maintaining and updating technical documents and procedures
Preparing maintenance plans and upgrading schedules for the organization's systems
Developing reports for teams across the business
All other duties as defined by your supervisor.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Previous work experience required:
5+ years of experience working in IT operations and overseeing large information technology projects.
Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems
Strong knowledge of project management principles
Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field
