Job Description:

Objective: The Welding Technician Tier 1 learns to develop and modify existing and upcoming programs and processes on robotic welding, automatic, and semi-automatic welding systems in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies.

Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
Ability and desire to enroll in a Welding Technology Associate's program within 6 months of starting work, as well as attending other off-site training classes.
Ability to complete Career Path training and education requirements, including continuous enrollment until program completion within 7 years
Ability to learn accurately and efficiently modify welding programs for Fanuc systems
Ability to learn troubleshoot automated welding applications
Ability to learn to perform preventative maintenance (PM) on weld fixtures, weld cells, and auxiliary equipment
Possess general knowledge with Microsoft Office
An excellent work record, (i.e., limited warnings), including attendance.

Essential Functions:
Standard Work/Welding Programing:

Maintain and follow welding parameters on the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) with the assistance of the Welding Engineer.
Interpret weld cross sections and etching samples and take appropriate corrective action.
Verify error proofing according to instructions.
Validate process parameters and enter system deviations when applicable.
Complete equipment changeovers according to the changeover instructions for weld fixtures, size tools, leak test tools, poke yokes, and all auxiliary equipment.

Preventative Maintenance (PM):

Assist the Welding Engineer in data collection for continuous improvement activities.
Support Tool Room on preventative maintenance (PM) per the instructions on weld fixture.
Perform PM's on weld cells and auxiliary equipment.
Provide suggestions to continuously improve the PM schedules.
Utilize EAM to document time spent on CM's and PM's.

Troubleshooting/Quality:

Support "End of Runs", by working with both Tool Room and Machine Operators to identify and address any issues during each run.
Troubleshoot automated welding applications.
Maintain weld equipment and processes to OSHA, MIOSHA, and Pridgeon & Clay standards.

Lean Principles/5S/Safety:

Participate in lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events, and identity and elimination all types of waste.
Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area and 5S zone.
Consistently adhere to, and support, all company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS16949, and safety regulations.

Dependability/Professionalism:

Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.
