The Mechanical Designer Engineer uses engineering techniques to design, maintain, and improve new and existing products related to gas-fired or heat pump systems used for domestic potable water heating, space heating hydronic systems, and combination potable and space water heating.

This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Montgomery, AL.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement of parts.
  • Work in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for CAD data management, electronic change order processing, bill of material structure, and data transfer
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes.
  • Develop both 3D solid models and 2D production drawings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and check engineering changes prior to documentation release.
  • Must be able to follow project and provide hands-on support from concept through design, prototype, and manufacturing of finished products.
  • Conduct simple analyses using FEA and CFD software as directed.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot product design related problems and opportunities, documenting findings and performing corrective/improvement changes.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Develop evaluation test plans and coordinate with designers and lab personnel on test set-up, data acquisition, interpretation of data and means for achieving desired test results.
  • Investigate pertinent factors such as inter-changeability, service requirements, and efficiency and agency requirements.
