Prendio is an exciting software startup company on the verge of explosive growth looking for a versatile, curious, and motivated DBA MySQL Programmer to help define the way we build and use our products. What you’ll do:
As a Prendio DBA MySQL Programmer, you will join a small but growing team of enthusiastic, hands-on engineers to ensure that our products meet the highest standard of quality. You will need to have hands-on experience with production databases. This role is an integral part of creating a first-class user experience for our fast-growing customer base.
A Prendio DBA MySQL Programmer:
Creates databases with efficient structures
Writes optimized queries, views, and triggers for integration with other applications
Maintains high standards of data quality and integrity
Understands issues related to network performance and security
Develops and supports MySQL database production, replication, and clustering
Monitors and optimizes MySQL database performance and capacity planning
Maintains database system availability
Plans and executes for database scalability
Develops and optimizes database design for new applications
Identify opportunities for improved performance in SQL operations and implementations
Oversee the operations of the production and staging environments databases
Design, implement and monitor disaster recovery plans as it pertains to the production database environment
Perform technical troubleshooting to diagnose, isolate and correct data and database issues
Give design recommendations for database functions that meet business operating standards while improving the efficiency of business processes
Train and mentor junior personnel on best practices
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in MySQL Administration and programming
Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning
Experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environments
Experience with performance analysis (IO, CPU, etc.) and optimization (indexes, partitions, schema redesign, etc.)
Solid knowledge of server monitoring for the detection of emerging issues (performance, locking, bad usage, etc.)
A solid understanding of Linux - shell scripting and the ability to inspect hardware performance and load indicators
A good understanding of master-master replication
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar relevant field
Hands on experience with installation and configuration of MySQL in a multi-master environment
Applicable expertise in analysis and maintenance planning on production systems
Preferred Qualifications (considered a plus, but not required):
Previous experience managing large scale database systems
Familiarity with reporting and business intelligence tools like Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SAP Crystal Reports
Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark
Working knowledge of Amazon AWS Cloud Services
Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), specifically Scrum and Agile methodology
