Job Description:

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Experience working in a manufactuing environment with demonstrated knowledge of and how to operate a CNC machine.

  • Working knowledge and experience with Fanuc, Siemens, OSP and ESAB machine controls.

  • Proven computer software skills required (Microsoft, MasterCAM or similar, Auto Cad, Solid Edge or Solid Works) to draw parts, obtain part dimensions, create tool paths, and create CNC part programs.

  • Experience programming multi-axes CNC's (preference but not limited to MORI 5 axes) with demonstrated ability to set up new programs and edit exisitng ones.

  • Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators & tape measures. Experience with problem solving associated with machining tolerances at +/-.0005.

  • Advanced knowledge reading drawings & specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance & dimensions.

  • Experience working with a variety of materials such as tool steel, stainless, alloys, aluminum, and mild and hardened steel.

  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, and strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to meet and exceed customer requirements at all times.

  • Conveys an understanding of blueprints, engineer plans, and specific materials.

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and is able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Is extremely customer focused along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts.)

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties, walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis and work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.

  • Possess and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills, a strong work ethic, great attitude, customer-focus, team orientation and be results driven.


Education:
  • Associate degree in precision programming and machining or related technical field required.

Summary:

Programs, sets up and runs CNC equipment to make quality parts from mechanical drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting near misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.

  • Studies & interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions & tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations & setup requirements to maximize efficiencies.

  • Interprets drawings to write programs for CNC machines in GCODE and CAD/CAM that include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production standards. Revises programs and documentation based engineering changes.

  • Responsible for storage, security and distribution of CNC programs.

  • Determines dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements per drawings, specifications or sample part.

  • Starts, observes and runs machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

  • Provides technical support to all shifts on an as needed basis.

  • Interacts with Design Engineering, Product Engineering and Quality Assurance to reach agreeable solutions.

  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.

  • Supports design engineering activities as appropriate to ensure the accurate and efficient realization of production components.

  • Assists in the solution of complex operating problems and/or cost reduction projects.

  • Provides programming support to engineering and operations as needed to meet customer requirements.

  • Proposes potential projects and provides technical leadership to help achieve safety, quality, and productivity improvement goals within production unit.

  • Utilizes a standardized problem-solving approach to troubleshoot product and process failures and develop root cause solutions to prevent reoccurrences.

  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional individuals and teams to build consensus and achieve best practice outcomes. Participates in and occasionally leads rapid improvement events as part of the site's Lean transformation journey.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
