Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Information Technician II completes analysis, scanning, and filing of OR, Lab, and Radiology health information records.  Completes analysis, scanning, and filing of Clinic documents.  Assigns deficiencies and monitors for deficiency completion.  Sort and deliver mail.  Works closely with Medical Staff Providers and clinical staff.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES


  1. Review OR, Lab and Radiology records to ensure that required documentation and signatures are complete and, in the record.

  2. Assign deficiencies and monitors for resolution of assigned deficiencies.

  3. Fax radiology results to outside ordering providers.

  4. Prepares health information records for scanning.  Scans records into the electronic health record.

  5. Completes final review of Health Information records for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services.

  6. Responds to requests for copies of Health Information records. Logs requests per policy and procedure.

  7. Sorts and delivers USPS mail.

  8. Maintains CMS required documentation: On call schedules, pathology reports, shared documentation.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate’s Degree in medical or Health Information field preferred.

Experience:


  • Experience with computers and general office equipment.

  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

  • Previous clerical and/or healthcare experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of:

  • Medical Terminology

  • Numerical and clerical ability to make statistical computations


  • Skills in:

  • Microsoft Office system

  • Effective communication


  • Ability to:

  • Work under pressure with time constraints

  • Practice and promote good customer relations acting as a representative of the department

  • Independently organize, prioritize, and complete tasks within the established time constraints
