GPS Manufacturer/Distributor

We are hiring a Cloud Architect (Azure specific) for our office in Chandler, AZ.  This person will serve as a software architecture and technology expert to help evolve the business and enable senior executives to respond to business risks and opportunities. Influences the technology evolution of Garmin applications throughout the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Partners with IT architects of each discipline and with application architects to come up with innovative and cost-effective recommendations 


• Documents and communicates architecture and technology strategies that serve Garmin’s business needs 


• Develops and enforces technology standards across multiple organizations.


• Contributes to the design, development, and implementation of scalable application architectures across multiple domains


• Identifies opportunities for improvement within applications across domains through research and collaboration with other architects and engineers.


• Translates, negotiates, & communicates complex architectural and development concepts across development teams, senior executives and key stakeholders to meet both architectural and business objective.


• Partners with internal customers to fulfill business requirements through sound architectural design and implementation.


• Leads technology selection with other technical resources and provides a recommendation from thorough analysis


• Organizes and leads discussions to recommend broader technology solutions throughout the enterprise


• Directs or influences key technical resources at critical points in corporate level decision making on long range technical objectives


• Works on IT-wide or Enterprise-wide technical projects of great complexity or depth 


• Mentors Architect 1 associates


• Exemplifies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs


• Manage vendor relationship


• Perform other duties as necessary

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 15 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience


• Possesses a unique blend of technical, business and project skills that enables technical vision for software engineering technologies and architecture OR a combination of years and level of experience


• Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness


• Demonstrated experience in successful project management of technology solutions


• Demonstrated experience in architecting web solutions used by thousands of concurrent users.


• Participated in Public Cloud migrations

• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental setting
