Job Description:

Publix is known and loved for its great customer service. In the digital age, great customer service is extended beyond the walls of our brick-and-mortar stores through user experience design. The Interactive Art Director defines that user experience for customers as they engage the brand through our Marketing apps, web sites, and digital kiosks. This has a direct impact on sales and brand loyalty.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 


  • designing customer-centric user experiences on Publix digital Marketing properties including but not limited to websites, mobile apps, and in-store digital kiosks.

  • defining all aspects of the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI). This includes process flows, navigation, page design, iconography, photography, illustration, animation, prototyping, and branding.

  • being skilled in both technical design (coding) and UX/UI design, the Interactive Art Director leads development and design teams to produce web and app experiences that are practical, useful, delightful, and consistent with the superior customer service experiences associated with the Publix brand


  • Associate Degree in Graphics/Communication field or equivalent experience

  • 2 years’ experience as a Designer or equivalent experience, with emphasis on User Experience and User Interface design

  • understanding of how content management systems maintain and deploy content across web sites, so that the Interactive Art Director can create design solutions that make the most efficient use of the CMS.

  • ability to navigate and use file structures on Mac OS, navigate local area networks, and launch and use software.

  • advance skills utilizing industry standard design software applications such as: Microsoft Office, Adobe Design Suite, Sketch, Figma, and Keynote

  • knowledge of making strategic design and user-experience decisions to improve existing features and create new ones based on business and marketing objectives as defined by Marketing Strategy Briefs, I/S Requirements Documents, and key stakeholder interviews.

  • knowledge of employing a user-centered design approach and rapidly testing and iterating design solutions.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of front-end coding languages, content management systems back-end data structures, and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to create practical UX and UI design solutions.

  • knowledge of assessing the scale and complexity of a design project and distributing design tasks to Interactive Designers.

  • ability to partner with developers to ensure UX and UI design solutions work within the constraints of chosen technologies.

  • ability to design user journeys that deliver on Marketing, business, and brand objectives.

  • knowledge of creating user flows, wireframes, mockups, pixel perfect comps, and prototypes that deliver intuitive user experiences.

  • skilled at concepting and creating the overall user interface design strategy (the visual elements of the design). This includes all design assets (such as iconography, illustrations, button styles,

  • photography, etc.) that are optimized for web, mobile, kiosk, and other forms of digital/interactive customer engagement.

  • skilled at concepting and creating design systems which include style guides, comps, templates, reusable design components, and other design artifacts as needed to guide creative and development teams in building, editing, and maintaining our apps, web sites, and kiosks.

  • ability to develop low- and hi-fidelity prototypes for user testing and business evaluation which can range from simple black and white wireframes to full color, finished designs with real photography and final copy.

  • Art directing photographers, illustrators, and interactive designers as required to create design assets.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Design, Digital Design, or Arts

  • 4 years’ experience as a Designer with emphasis on User Experience and User Interface design

  • advance computer skills using Keynote

  • knowledge of the Publix brand and lines of business

  • knowledge of Publix target customer

  • knowledge of business objectives
