Job Description:

POSITION INFORMATION: The Center for American Indian Health Research, Hudson College of Public Health, University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, is looking to hire a Licensed Practical Research Nurse to work on a research study focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders among Native American people. The person who will be hired for this position will perform nursing duties to include but not limited to sample collection, research information gathering, recruit study participants, schedule follow-up participant appointments, data collection, and data entry. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  1. Patient Assistance.  Assists study participant with consent form.


  2. Sample Collection.  Collects samples from participants to include but not limited to blood, urine, etc.  Prepares samples for analysis or shipment to study lab.


  3. Research.  Conducts research or assists researchers by recruiting study participants, determining if they are suitable for the study, administering questionnaires, taking medical histories, and answering questions.


  4. Information Gathering.  Takes and records various readings to include but not limited to blood pressure, weight, etc. 


  5. Patient Follow Up. Sets up follow up participant appointments, or follows up on participant appointments.  Answers routine questions from participants, family and caregivers.


  6. Data Collection.  Collects all laboratory reports, data, and records. 


  7. Data Entry. Enters information collected from the participants into the study data entry program.


  8. Other Duties.  Transports participants as necessary; issue participant incentive gift cards.  


  9. As Needed.  Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Education:  Completion of an accredited practical nursing program

Experience:  None

Certifications/ Licenses: 


  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Oklahoma or able to obtain within 90 days of hire date

  • Registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Oklahoma

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications
