Job Description:

Springer Healthcare is looking for a Medical Editor to support the development and delivery of custom training solutions developed for the pharmaceutical industry and medical education resources for the healthcare provider. Focusing on diverse clinical and medical content, this exciting role presents an excellent opportunity for an individual with commitment, experience, and drive to work with the world's leading pharmaceutical companies to ensure the educational needs of both their internal audience (sales representatives, medical scientific liaisons) and the wider international healthcare audience are served.

Responsibilities:

Under direction of the Associate Editorial Director, review editorial, scientific and clinical content of educational projects (including learning modules, journal clubs, PowerPoint slides, digital magazines, apps, infographics, and workshop materials)

• Copyedit and proofread technical documents (e.g. grammar, spelling, editorial consistency, cross-references)


• Scientific and technical edit (fact-check) to ensure accuracy of content


• Work closely with the design and production team to achieve final delivery of editorial projects that are of the highest quality within the required time frame, including production editing of graphics and layouts and QC of digital or interactive solutions


• Maintain internal quality standards


• Ensure proper syntax, style, and content flow; adapt content for different audiences (from clinical specialist to pharmaceutical sales representative)


• Support medical-legal-regulatory review by ensuring deliverables are properly referenced and content is annotated, and by compiling reference packs


• Identify appropriate supporting content for projects, such as graphics and illustrations, as well as copyright needs for images and figures


• Any other duties that can reasonably be expected of you

Skills and experience:

• Bachelor degree in Life Sciences required


• Experience in scientific, technical or medical editing or writing, preferably within a medical communications agency or laboratory environment


• Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail


• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro


• Experience with AMA style


• Ability to understand scientific content across multiple therapeutic areas


• Ability to prioritize and organize work, meet tight deadlines, adapt to shifting deadlines, and communicate effectively to successfully function within a team environment

• Knowledge of Adobe InDesign beneficial


• Familiarity with medical-legal-regulatory systems and processes a plus
