Your Role:

Tetra Tech Inc., an industry leader and nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm, is seeking motivated a rchitect/engineering student interns. Student interns, working under the close supervision of engineer and scientist mentors, will be responsible for providing engineering support for asset management, civil, mechanical, electrical or environmental projects including investigations/studies, assessments, permitting, designs, and construction-phase services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Support field assessment data collection for facility and infrastructure condition, space utilization, energy audits and other asset management inventories or assessments.
  • Perform engineering calculations in support of permitting, design, and construction of utility, stormwater, civil site designs, mechanical HVAC and plumbing, architectural studies or remediation projects.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, test data, field data, aerial photographs and other technical information.
  • Support the preparation of environmental and engineering reports, cost estimates, specifications, construction schedules, and designs for projects.
  • Support investigation and construction projects, including monitoring progress and ensuring conformance to engineering plans and specifications, as well as construction and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have completed at least 2 years of college course work prior to starting the internship.

Education & Experience:

Working toward a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering required. Previous Co-op/ Intern engineering assignments are desired, but not required.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job include performing facility inspections over 6 hours per day covering 5 miles, including the ability to climb ladders and assess spaces including roofs, interstitials, basements, crawl spaces and utility tunnels.

Candidates need to have the ability to travel up to 50% per month over the course of the summer.

Language & Communication Skills:

Must be fluent in the English language - writing and speaking, etc.; Report writing requirements, etc.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to use measuring devices, calculate areas, perimeters, and other basic engineer calculations related to facilities and infrastructure.

Other Skills:

Fluency with computer software including knowledge of primary Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, TEAMS and Outlook) is required.
