Responsibilities
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) deSeversky Mansion seeks a part-time Bartender to provide quality service to our clients and colleagues for events hosted on campus.
Responsibilites include:
Represent the university in the most upstanding way possible.
Ensure proper pouring of drinks, wine, etc. to specific standardized pours and that all guests are not getting intoxicated.
Assist with wine service during dinner as needed.
Prepare beverage service points utilizing floor plans, BEO's, timelines and work plans issued.
Protect walls and floors when moving chairs, bars, liquor storage, glass racks and furniture from one room to another.
Maintain open communication with service staff and management during events.
Maintain stocked items, cutting and storage of all garnishes.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment .
Communicate departmental needs, items in need, repair and guest's complaints to Dining Room Manager.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of service and bar work areas.
Complete a weekly beverage inventory.
Submit purchasesand maintain records for costing purposes.
Complete an end of shift report.
Attend all training and development programs as scheduled.
Understand and communicate house history and summary of products and services we offer.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
HS or equivalent or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Must have Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) certification
Positive and professional demeanor and proven ability to work in a team setting.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Available to work weekends, holidays and 9 hour shifts as business dictates.
Ability to work in a fast past environment.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of times.
Able to lift a manage trays of food and glasses with weights at times exceeding 25lbs.
Must be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor settings where varying weather and temperature conditions can be expected
