What You'll Do

About The Role:

The Test Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting the Test Group and Engineering Development Teams in evaluating and testing individual components, sub-systems, or products to determine and improve performance or reliability.

This position reports to the Manager of Test & Reliability. Organization, follow-through, and communication skills are essential factors in the daily administration of this position. The incumbent will be expected to use vocational and basic math skills to complete the requesting engineers' assignments.

You Will Be Responsible For: Continuous Improvement, Testing, and Fabrication


  • Actively pursues improvements & ease of doing business to meet/exceed customer needs.

  • Develop procedures that lead to increased safety and productivity.

  • Manage multiple tasks and requests

  • Maintain clear and concise scopes of work and complete all tasks on-time.

  • Conduct engineering experiments and tests, collect test data, reduce the data, and write reports summarizing the experiments and tests within a time-framedetermined by the requesting engineer and Test Group.

  • Contribute to or design test fixtures.

  • Contribute to, or develop test plans and procedures.

  • Schedule and execute tests with outside vendors.

  • Fabricate small or simple mechanical test fixtures using common shop hand tools.

  • Wire, plumb, and troubleshoot pneumatics and instrument test fixtures.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting analysis of products or process problems that are discovered during testing.

  • Troubleshoot and repair products and assemblies to the component level.

  • Follow all safety procedures and be proactive in setting new procedures where required

What We're Looking For

To Be Successful in the Role You Will Have:


  • Associate Degree or Technical School Certificate in Electronics is desirable. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.

  • One year or more experience working in a manufacturing production environment performing product tests.

  • One year or more experience in an Engineering Lab, performing product tests or reliability predictions very desirable.

  • Experience with Solidworks CAD modeling preferred.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use micrometers, calipers, hand and power tools.

  • Machining experience with lathes, mills, and other machine shop tools preferred.

  • Basic math skills, algebra, and geometry are required.

  • Knowledge of pneumatic design, schematic reading, component identification, selection, and troubleshooting preferred.

  • Knowledge of electronics test equipment, including voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes preferred.

  • Knowledge of electronics troubleshooting techniques, including safety procedures necessary when working on high-voltage supplies.

  • Skillset should also include knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office software, data acquisition, PLCs, or other automation controllers. Able to read design drawings, geometric tolerance, and dimensioning symbols.

Working Environment:

Primary work is in a model shop and lab environment. Occasional work in an office environment and visits customer Beta sites, storage units, or other Precor locations to pick-up and deliver products is performed.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical effort typical in a model shop environment. Must be able to drive vehicles to deliver and pick up products.
