Position Summary

The Manager Architect Solutions eCommerce partners with the General Manager of Enterprise Architecture

and Manager of Enterprise Architecture to develop and execute the Information Technology strategy to enable the Commercial Portfolio and supports the enablement of JetBlue's Enterprise Architecture.

The Manager leads the creation of architecture for JetBlue's eCommerce technology, platforms, products, applications and/or systems in the Commercial Domain. The Manager ensures the domain solution architecture fits within the overall enterprise architecture and escalates issues that affect enterprise architecture. The Manager creates a high-level strategy and design view of the set of products in the domain solution portfolio. The Manager makes trade-offs across the solution portfolio and designs the architecture to accomplish cross-system objectives. The Manager provides the link between the needs of the organization and the technology solution delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and drive from strategy and architecture perspective our JetBlue's eCommerce Platform, Customer Experience (web, mobile, emails, and notifications), and integration with downstream systems including Payments and Reservations with a good understanding of PCI and different form of payments using leading edge technologies.


• Utilizes architecture and design concepts and techniques to evaluate the completeness and correctness of the product domain solution portfolio.


• Ensures platforms, products, and interfaces are well-defined and exhibit desired architectural behaviors. Prepares architecture documents and technical papers documenting and advocating the decisions affecting the architecture of multiple products.


• Advises on product strategy for the product domain solution portfolio. Investigates new technologies and product opportunities that could be used to generate competitive advantage.


• Creates technology roadmaps for the product domain solution portfolio.


• Identifies business and technology trends and evaluates their impact on the product domain solution portfolio.


• Stays up on current technologies, providing solutions in support of business roadmaps and corporate strategies.


• Participate in project definition, assessment and design of business initiatives with the product domain. Monitor the implementation of architecture throughout the product domain and provides technical mentoring, guidance and clarification to other architects; technology products team and technical implementation resources.


• Reviews the integration test plan to ensure the integrity and traceability of the delivered product or services in collaboration with Quality Assurance Team. Ensure that the proposed solution is easily supportable and fits within IT application support standards, partners with the Platform Engineering and System Engineering support teams to facilitate a smooth production transition.


• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on the definition of architecture principles, guidelines, patterns, technology stacks, and standards.


• Lead proof of concept and prototyping activities to assess whether proposed architecture and components meet reliability, performance, and maintainability requirements; modify and refine the architecture as needed


• Works closely with the Enterprise Architecture Team to define and support Business Architecture, Architectural Technology Stacks, Standards, Mechanisms, Governance, and Roadmaps.


• Maintains knowledge of business data needs and how the data flows within and across technologies, understands platforms and products integration


• Ensures that product design and specifications are aligned to meet business expectations in accordance with IT policies, standards and procedures


• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as mathematics, engineering, information systems, computer science or related discipline


• Five (5) years' experience as Senior Architect Solutions leading and mentoring team of Architect Solutions.


• Five (5) years' experience as Architect, Tech Lead, Lead Developer, Senior Support Engineer, or Senior Data Engineer.


• Broad Technology experience using On Prem and Cloud Technologies for Front End and Back End using latest technology stacks.


• Experience with eCommerce Platforms that support the enablement of Customer Experiences thru APIs and integration with downstream systems including Payments (PCI) and Reservations.


• Experience with the use of Messaging and APIs technologies to enable real time and low latency integration between platforms and products.


• Broad practical experience with a variety of technologies including hardware and software environments, operating systems, Databases, Data warehousing, server engineering and application support for On Prem or Cloud.


• eCommerce industry knowledge.


• Available for frequent overnight travel (up to 50%).


• Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States


• Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice.


• Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.


• Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Seven (7) years' experience with industry standards in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ITIL, project management and development methodologies (PMBOK, MSF, SEI, Agile Methods, RUP, etc.), and architecture standards (ATM, TOGAF, etc.).


• Three (3) years' experience with Event Driven and Integration architectures.


• Exposure to Business and Enterprise Architecture practices.


• Knowledge of Business process reengineering and modeling methodologies.


• In-depth knowledge of IT Architecture concepts, strategies and methodologies.


• Thorough knowledge of business function and thorough knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies


• Exposure to JetBlue's IT disciplines and interdependencies.


• Exposure to JetBlue's business units and how their needs drive IT strategy.


• Knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques

• Regular attendance and punctuality.


• Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice.


• Well - groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance.


• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
