Support Tax Department with all tax functions for Clariant North America, including implementing tax planning strategies, tax policies, procedures, and compliance for the corporation in an effort to minimize the tax burden of the company and ensure appropriate compliance with all local, federal, and state tax requirements.
Coordinate and help prepare all corporate-wide tax returns (income, franchise, sales & use tax, property, etc.).
Demonstrate understanding of ASC740 (or IAS12) and ability to prepare income tax provision calculations.
Conduct tax research and draft memorandums to support tax filing positions, analyze tax issues and developments, as required.
Disseminate information regarding new tax developments to affected departments/staff members.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, with the objective of increasing efficiencies within the compliance process.
Coordinate and respond to all audits by taxing authorities.
Formulate tax accounting positions aligned with overall tax strategies.
Facilitate minimization of corporate exposure on all forms of taxation.
Ensure sales & use tax compliance and ensure appropriate system maintenance.
Respond to various taxing authority inquiries, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar field required; tax concentration preferred.
MBA, Master's degree in tax, or similar degree preferred.
CPA Candidate or certification preferred.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting and/or manufacturing organization.
Working knowledge with online tax research tools (RIA, CCH, BNA)
Must have experience in multiple areas of tax compliance.
Working knowledge of corporate tax preparation/provision software: Corptax and/or ONESOURCE, a plus.
Expertise in both U.S. and Canadian tax law preferred.
Ability to handle multiple projects.
