Position Summary:

The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership support for the distribution center. This individual ensures the safe and efficient operation of the shipping and receiving areas, including oversight of employees, equipment and the facility in accordance with organizational guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Distribution Center Supervisor is the first line of management in the distribution center. They directly supervise an assigned area and are responsible for efficiently and safely performing the operation of shipping and receiving including but not limited to assuring inventory and stored Raw materials are wrapped, marked, transported, and logistically stored. When shipments are made, it is the responsibility of this position to assure the goods are what is ordered, staged and loaded for shipment. When shipments are received, it is the responsibility of this position to confirm what was ordered is what is received and to disposition the load as needed. It is the responsibility of this position to adhere to the shipping/receiving process.


  • Leads, coaches and develops department team members

  • Establishes and maintains appropriate staffing levels within the department

  • Responsible for all performance management activities

  • Supervises all activities related to wrapping, labeling, staging, storing and shipping product

  • Continuously identifies, drives and implements improvement initiatives

  • Creates and maintains an environment that promotes employee engagement and teamwork, while focusing on results

  • Develops, trains, and evaluates employees; develops a flexible work force that can respond quickly to changing customer/distribution requirements

  • Develops effective working relationships with other departments to ensure ongoing communication in all areas of the business

  • Promotes a safe working environment, ensuring safety policies and housekeeping guidelines are followed

  • Works closely with Plant leadership to establish and review department goals and objectives that are aligned to overall business objectives

  • Ensures company quality on shipping and receiving of goods/materials

  • Serves as the primary point of contact with customers for all distribution matters and escalations

  • Works with Human Resources for disciplinary related incidents

  • Manages PTO requests based on staffing needs

  • Authorizes overtime as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Certifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in a distribution, production, or manufacturing environment or equivalent required

Required Skills:


  • Experience with forklifts, Vertical GI, and pallet jacks highly preferred

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong analytical aptitude and experience

  • Ability to work with all levels of employees in a cross-functional team environment

  • Proven experience managing hourly employees, including coaching, employee relations and performance management activities

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting production schedule required

  • Ability to maintain confidential information required
