Regional Sales Manager

As a leader of the Miltenyi Biotec Regional Sales team, you will have the exciting opportunity to develop and implement strategic sales plans in order to achieve corporate goals through managing the daily activities of your sales region. More specifically, you will be responsible for directly supervising a technical sales team by means of mentoring, coaching, and providing regular and on-going feedback. In addition, you will analyze sales data to identify areas of opportunity and need, direct sales forecasting activities, and further lasting relationships with key clients. Last, but certainly not least, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships with our regional and global team members. As a result, you will enable the continued success and growth of our company as a whole.

Among other responsibilities, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve corporate goals

  • Direct sales forecasting activities and input for annual or periodic setting of sales goals

  • Supervise District Sales Managers and Technical Sales Consultants, representing research products and instruments

  • Hire and maintain an effective sales team. Design, recommend and implement strategies and plans to retain productive and successful employees

  • Provide regular and on-going feedback (formal and informal) to sales representatives to guide effective development and operations

  • Analyze sales data to identify areas of opportunity and need, and formulate plans to capture the opportunity and deal with problems

  • Meet with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members supporting the goals, strategies and overall direction of the organization

  • Manage day to day work activities of the sales region, including but not limited to establishment and execution of regional and territorial strategic plans, approval of regional expenses, enforcement of company policy and management generated programs, and assurance of good time and territory management.

  • Contributes to the company's development as a member of the Management team; knowing and utilizing internal resources, working with other members of the management team, assuming responsibility for the overall company quality and customer satisfaction, maintaining and promoting company excellence and professionalism

  • Designs, and recommends sales programs and sets short and long-term goals within assigned region, in coordination with the other members of the Sales management team and Auburn internal resources


  • Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree in the life sciences from a four year college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years of sales and sales management experience within the life sciences or clinical industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must possess a valid driver's license, evidence of insurance/ insurability, ability to receive appropriate clearance to access restricted government accounts, and authorized to work in the U.S.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to handle more than one task at a time and must work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail. Must be able to travel routinely by car and plane.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a variety of facilities. Each person performing this job must have a home office environment, which is temperature controlled. This job requires the person to be mobile to visit customer sites. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict safety guidelines and SOPs must be followed and Personal Protective Equipment must be worn. All persons performing this job will receive appropriate training prior to engaging in work requiring Personal Protective Equipment or SOP procedures.
