Join Cardno's Science and Environmental team in the Northeast for an opportunity to play a leadership role in directing and conducting archeological fieldwork.
Job Description:
Cardno is looking for an Cultural Resources Specialist based in the Mid-Atlantic or the Northeast, to support regional permitting projects in these (and other) areas.
Responsibilities include:
> Managing cultural resource compliance projects for a variety of clients and Project Managers
> Conducting background research and record searches
> Directing and conducting archeological fieldwork
> Completing analysis
> Making determinations of eligibility, if necessary
> Primary author on cultural resources reports which may include results of inventory, proposed protection measures, analysis of effect and recommendations on determinations of effect
> Coordination with client or Project Manager, on budget and deliverables
Basic Qualifications:
> M.A. in a Cultural Resources field with sufficient experience to meet the Secretary of the Interiors Guidelines for Professional Qualifications for their specific field
> You should exhibit strong technical skills and feel comfortable making technical decisions in the field
> Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cultural Resources and minimum four (4) years experienced at the Project Manager level
> Experience writing and producing technical reports for State Historic Preservation Office and other state and federal agency review
> Very comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel (maintain complex spreadsheets), PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
> Working knowledge of GIS
> Experience using a Trimble and associated software
> Field management experience with both small and large crews
> Complete physically demanding tasks in remote areas and humid continental climate, including walking, hiking, carrying loads up to 50 pounds, and digging
> Frequent out-of-town travel, potentially for extended periods of time
Desired Qualifications:
> 8+ years of professional experience
> Experience working with Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) experience
> Direct experience with specific regulatory agencies and compliance offices
> Identify and bring in work and see it through to completion
