R&D Electrical Engineer III at Bio-Rad Laboratories in Pleasanton, California

Job Description:

Bio-Rad's Digital Biology Group is a multidisciplinary team developing products using our Droplet Digital technology that are having a large impact in both research and healthcare. Every day, scientists and clinicians around the world use our ddPCR and ddSeq NGS sample prep systems to make new discoveries, and are revolutionizing clinical decisions with break-through liquid biopsy applications. We're looking for an Engineer III (Electrical Engineer) to join our team.

Responsibilities


  • Provide technical expertise and collaborate on designs in a small team environment.

  • Design analog and digital circuitry including embedded systems using ARM Cortex and CAN bus.

  • Ability to develop sophisticated electronic circuits and drive board-level design, component selection, schematic generation, PCB layout guidance, verification, and related documentation.

  • Provides innovative and potentially patentable solutions for instrument systems and processes.

  • Work closely with development teams including HW, FW, SW, Systems and Program Management.

  • Support new product introduction, engineering test, product qualification and system integration.

  • Support on-market products and manufacturing over the product lifetimes.

  • Work in a fast-paced, product-focused environment with defined schedules and deliverables.

  • Contribute to the definition and timely achievement of project goals

  • Participate in efforts to define new components, products or processes.

  • Provide technical direction and feedback to others.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations of experiments and results to wider audiences.

Qualifications


  • BSEE or MSEE with 5+ years of experience designing electronics (Plus: Having launched a product).

  • Experienced in circuit and system design and analysis (Plus: Experience in project phases from concept to launch).

  • Experience with and an understanding of quality systems and standards for IVD or medical products.

  • Experience with Verification and Validation (V&V) including EMC/ESD and project documentation.

  • Expert with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, current probes and other EE tools.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
