Sr. Engineering Technician



Position Summary:

As Sr. Engineering Technician, you will provide planning and estimating services in the areas of shipboard mechanical systems, electrical systems, structural maintenance and inspection, or naval vessel combat systems support of the shipyard Engineering and Planning Department. You will support these areas by preparing and reviewing Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) planning and technical work documents.



This position will split time between our office in Bremerton, WA and Japan (Yokosuka or Sasebo). The individual in this role must be willing to spend time in Japan for at least 4 months at a time.



Contract Requirements:


  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Research and order materials

  • Prepare Quality Assurance (QA) documents in conjunction with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)

  • Research Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS), Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service (CITIS), and Ship's Drawing Index (SDI) drawings

  • Research and compile Allowance Parts Lists (APL)

  • Draft Submarine Maintenance Standards (SMS)

  • Complete Unrestricted Operations/Maintenance Requirement Cards (URO/MRC)


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


  • At least 10 years practical engineering experience which should include the operation, test, maintenance and repair of naval ship hull, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and ordnance equipment and systems

  • Experience in Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) and Trouble Desk

  • Ability to reference and understandSubmarine Maintenance Standards (SMS)


Physical Demands and Expectations:


  • Ability to travel to Japan for minimum of 4 months at a time (or longer if candidate desires)

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching and standing; occasional prolonged sitting

  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance

  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
