Position Description:
The Senior VoIP Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for the overall coordination and control of all telephony services and provision of VoIP support to IS staff and district offices.
Day to Day Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of the VoIP infrastructure
Troubleshoot VoIP installations for FCBT and customer sites
Debug internal Call Manager issues, as they arise
Perform periodic work around network services, network provisioning, preventive maintenance; manage backup and disaster recovery strategy of network components, implement network security according to departmental policy.
Monitor network infrastructure and respond to performance, vulnerability and operations issues as they occur
Research and test software/hardware for compatibility with existing or planned systems
Work as a Subject Matter Expert for projects as assigned. Subject Matter Expert responsibilities may include needs assessment, solution development, work with other IS teams, reporting and technical documentation.
Provide third-tier VoIP support and training for Technical Support and other Network Administrators.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks and architectural diagrams for telephony technologies
Adhere to standards and procedures
Identify critical path items for the successful execution; prioritize efforts based on return on investment relative to risk
Identify risks and introduce process improvements to gain operational efficiencies
Manage, prioritize and communicate to management when milestones will not be met
Assume a leadership role and communicate risks with proposed resolutions to management on project for which you are the SME
Configuring telephony services in a fast-paced support environment in campus networks as a member of a 24x7x365 network and/or security operations team.
Research and test software/hardware for compatibility with existing or planned infrastructure
Work as a Subject Matter Expert for projects as assigned. Subject Matter Expert responsibilities may include needs assessment, solution development, work with other IS teams, reporting and technical documentation.
Willingness to mentor more junior staff members and interns.
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent of four (4) or more years' experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer working in a Cisco focused environment. Expert level knowledge in Cisco Voice Over IP (VOIP). CCNP Collaboration (Cisco Certified Network Professional) preferred.
Expert knowledge in at least two of the following disciplines and strong knowledge in multiple others, VoIP expertise required.
VoIP skills required:
Minimum 5 years of experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection 9.X and above.
In depth understanding of dial and route plan elements within Cisco UC environment
Experience with configuration and troubleshooting inbound and outbound dial-peers in Cisco CUBE
Ability to activate, test and troubleshoot SIP trunking operations with multiple SIP Carriers
Familiar with Cisco IP phone configuration and associated features
Capable of troubleshooting phone registration process including SRST (SIP and SCCP)
Experience deploying new sites/branches including phone and voice gateway configuration
Knowledge of QoS implementation
Desired Network Knowledge:
Strong experience and understanding of routing/switching with BGP and EIGRP
Cisco Router administration
Strong knowledge of DMVPN and SDWAN as it relates to VoIP/SIP
Proxy configuration and troubleshooting (WPAD/PAC file editing, Cisco WSA preferred)
Cisco ASA/FPR Firewall systems configuration and administration
Administration of Wireless Data Communication with Meraki WAP
Experience integrating Cisco UC with 3rd party platforms (such as Kurmi)
Familiar with Cisco platform tools such as RTMT
Experience with Cisco Expressway (Hybrid Calling)
Knowledge in configuration of Cisco Telepresence
Experience with Unified Contact Center Express and simple scripting
Security certification (CISSP/CEH/CISM/GIAC) and experience
Automation (ie Ansible or similar)
Multi-factor optimization and integration
Compliance/Audit experience (HiPPA/SOX/PCI)
