Job Summary

This position is responsible for defining and executing corporate CAD roadmap and initiatives that have a direct impact on the effectiveness and ability of pSemi's IC design teams to produce best-in-class products. These initiatives cover a broad spectrum of CAD functions related to the development and support of EDA tools and process design kits (PDKs) for analog, RF, mixed-signal, and digital design flows. The candidate is also expected to provide CAD automation solutions to a variety of engineering challenges, along with technical leadership and mentorship.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

* Foundry PDK Implementation - Architecture and customization of pSemi's proprietary PDKs and off-the-shelf foundry PDKs.

* CAD Development - Work closely with the design teams to identify and implement CAD flows, procedures, automation and utilities to improve design efficiency.

* CAD Roadmap - Work with Technology, Modeling, Design Engineering teams to define CAD engineering roadmap and initiatives.

* Oversee the evaluation and deployment of new EDA tools to enhance IC design capabilities.

* Provide technical leadership, insight, mentoring, and support to the CAD engineering team

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Experience and Skills)


  • PDK Development - Expert proficiency in all aspects of custom PDK implementation. Able to work with foundries to address all issues associated with the PDKs.

  • Design Flow Expertise - Comprehensive CAD knowledge of analog/RF/mixed-signal IC design flows, including but not limited to design capture, simulations, EM, physical design, and physical verification.

  • CAD Systems Knowledge - Considerable knowledge regarding hardware systems, server farm implementation, design management software, job scheduling software and grid computing

  • EDA Software tools - Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Keysight, Ansys

  • Extensive experience with scripting and software development (C, Perl, SKILL)

  • Extensive experience with Linux/UNIX operating systems

  • Familiarity with change and configuration management systems, issue tracking, and revision control systems

  • 8 years of demonstrated technical leadership

  • U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident required

  • Demonstrated leadership and development of technical teams of engineers

Education Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 15 years of experience in related field, or Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or PhD with 8 years of experience
