Risk Management Analyst

Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We're actively seeking a talented Risk Management Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk Management team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Risk Management Analyst, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by managing and improving the economic projection modeling process. You will be looking for opportunities to increase operational efficiency through system design and expand technical capabilities while maintaining the data output integrity. While joining the Risk Analytics team, you'll interact with the divisions to understand the businesses needs and translate these business needs and the economic projection systems. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of two people in the Corporate division. Your colleagues will include actuaries and fellow risk management professionals.

How you will make an impact:

• Produce quarterly scenarios for Valuation, Regulatory, Economic, and Risk Management applications


• Develop code to improve automation of the projection system incorporating input and output databases


• Develop new models and functionality to expand capabilities and meet clients business needs.


• Perform data validation and maintain controls to ensure data integrity


• Maintain model documentation


• Work with third party analytical software systems such as Bloomberg and Moody's Analytics

The experience you will bring:

• Bachelors in a quantitative area such as Computer Science, Math, Economics, Finance, or related field


• 3-5 years of risk management experience


• 2+ years experience in coding


• Background or interest in economic modeling


• Good written and speaking communication skills

What will make you stand out:

• Quantitative mindset with the ability to approach formulas or code when working towards a solution.


• Experience using MATLAB, Python, and/or VBA
