Data Governance System Administrator

Role Summary:


The Data Governance System Administrator is responsible for software deployment, configuration, and management of the enterprise Data Governance toolset. This position provides technical support to Data Custodians, Data Stewards, and other users of the Data Governance toolset that span all WPS lines of business and corporate teams.


The Data Governance System Administrator is a member of the WPS Data Governance office and the WPS Data and Analytics team. The Data Governance Office is responsible for organizing and implementing Data Governance efforts across all lines of business.


In this role you will:



  • Define software and infrastructure design for the Data Governance toolset.

  • Configure toolset connections to data assets to ingest technical metadata.

  • Provide planning, analysis, implementation, and testing of complex software upgrades or new releases and assess any impact to other software products being utilized.

  • Interface with appropriate staff or vendor during installation and in resolution of any problems.

  • Work closely with appropriate internal teams to ensure that the software solution adheres to strict regulatory standards.

  • Assist in defining access requirements, roles and privileges within the software. Ensure the proper implementation of access controls in the software and to data assets regulated within the software.

  • Develop relationships with the various Data Governance stakeholders to understand solution requirements.

  • Determine backup/recovery requirements and ensure integration with disaster recovery procedures.

  • Provide appropriate documentation/reports to management.

  • Perform capacity/performance analysis, problem analysis, testing, and tuning to ensure efficient use of resources. This includes development of appropriate reporting.

  • Provide comprehensive on-call support for the solution in event of production malfunctions.

You need to have:



  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent post high school education and/or work related experience.


We also prefer you have the following skills:



  • 4or moreyears in Information Systems performing system administration.

  • Experience with Data Governance toolsets (e.g. Informatica, Collibra, erwin, Alation, etc).

  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Knowledge and skill to troubleshoot application configuration and performance issues.

  • Ability to interact with and troubleshoot application situations involving databases;including:SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2016, Oracle 12c.

  • Knowledge and skill to restore critical applications as part of the yearly D/R rehearsal.

  • Understanding of Data Governance and Information Management disciplines, including: Data Stewardship, Data Custodianship, Database Administration, Data Architecture and ETL Development.


This role is open to considering 100% remote work, we are highly interested in applicants that are regionally local to the Madison area, to be able to come into the office on occasion after Covid-19.
