GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under the general direction of the Practice Manager the Sr. Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all billing documents so that accounts are properly processed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews charges in the work queue and submits billable visits in conjunction with the Billing Administrative Coordinator. Manages the Referral Work queue and outside referrals that come into the Practice.
Responsible for billing all deliveries for the entire Obstetrics Division which includes emailing providers for missing admissions and other charges.
Responsible for billing consults for lactation services
Responsible for billing all IUD insertions for the main campus and MGH Danvers
Responsible for billing all office and L&D non-stress testing
Responsible for billing all end of care visits
Responsible for submitting Prior Authorizations as needed
PSC III/Billing Coordinator will provide back up for the Billing Administrative Coordinator when necessary
Functions as the pod/unit resource for referral and insurance issues. Remains current on the changing
Possesses a thorough knowledge of all HMO, managed care, other third-party insurers, and available patient financial services/resources.
Ensure HIPAA Confidentiality and Privacy Policies are followed
Assists with special projects as required. Projects may include such topics as obligations to insurers, hospital issues of compliance and/or Operations Improvement Initiatives

Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis codes, payment denial and claims support
Bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years relevant experience
Certificate for medical billing and coding preferred
