Position Description
Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce tomographic films of designated portions of the human body for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in an outpatient setting.
Review physician's order and obtains pertinent medical information to identify reason for exam.
Screens patients for contraindications prior to entering magnetic filed
Explains procedure to patient and administers intravenous contrast as required. Selects appropriate pad and coil and positions patient.
Selects desired protocol and log factors used.
Examines images following initial sequence and selects location parameters for next scan.
Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers images to PACS system.
Enters patient charges into computer system.
Performs minor maintenance and repair of MRI equipment. Refers other problems to Lead MRI Technologist, Supervisor or Imaging Manager.
Assists in training and orienting personnel.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Manager.
1. Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program.
2. Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with one (1) year of experience in diagnostic radiology or ARMRIT (MR) registry or ARRT (MR) only registry in lieu of ARRT (RT) certification and diagnostic radiology experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
1. Registered MRI Technologist by ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT (MR)
2. One (1) year of training and experience in MRI.
2. One (1) year of training and experience in Special Procedures or Computerized Tomography.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of crosssectional anatomy.
4. Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
