Perform all analysis associated with production from crush through bottling.
Prepare analytical solutions and calibrate equipment.
Perform routine analysis on grapes, juice and wine.
Maintain quality assurance logs and records.
Perform monthly quality checks on bulk wine.
Maintain wine lab, tasting lab and equipment cleanliness.
Pull samples of bulk wine in barrel room and cellar.
Provide analytical and statistical data to enological staff.
Maintain and follow guidelines of laboratory procedures, quality assurance and safety aspects within the laboratory facility.
Maintain laboratory safety procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned
95% of the work is in lab setting, occasional sampling is required in cellar and barrel room
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years production laboratory work experience).
One (1) year prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred
Working knowledge of general wet chemistry
General knowledge of microbiology.
Highly organized; ability to prioritize tasks and work well with others in a close proximity or
on your own.
Excellent math/computation skills; accuracy in computations and recordkeeping a must.
Computerized data entry and Vintners Advantage data entry experience preferred.
Chemical safety awareness & experience in the handling of chemicals.
Able to work increased hours and/or shift work during peak seasons as the need exists.
History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
