JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr Financial Analyst manages end-to-end Strategic Planning, Annual Planning and Forecasting processes and activities, in addition to managing monthly and quarterly actual reporting.  He/she will reconcile actual results against plan and projections, identifying and explaining variances

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Forecast and Planning

• Get full and deep understanding of our business, processes, systems and products


• For each forecast and plan, discuss with segment leaders to obtain key assumptions, including changes and initiatives as well as their impacts


• Update models and assumptions to be in line with business trend and strategies


• Receive and format information received from the actuarial department and ensure it is accurately entered into the financial forecasting system


• Submit forecasting on a timely basis


• Analyze and provide commentary on variances and trends


• Put together forecasting analysis package


• Work with actuarial department, segment leaders and management to conduct annual field comp deferral study


• Responsible for other day-to-day planning and forecasting activities

Actual reporting

• Review actual results, explain variances compared to forecast and plan, and provide analytical opinions to the management


• Manage expense budgets for various departments.  Review actual expenses on a monthly basis and update forecasts as necessary


• Analyze results and provide accrual input; submit necessary journal entries when needed


• Generate actual analytics and reporting package monthly and quarterly


• Respond to auditors’ requests

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Respond to auditors’ requests


• 5+ years of FP&A experience in Insurance – including planning & forecasting


• Outstanding communication skills


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills


• Strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent excel skills; exposure to other software products (i.e TM1, Power BI, PeopleSoft, Cognos)

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related fields
