This is a remote-based position located in the United States.
We are looking for a dynamic, curious, motivated, and self-starting Network Solutions Architect to join our growing team. This position is responsible for pre-sales technical architecture recommendations and best practices during the engagement with the sales teams and customers, pivoting between credible technical discussions and distilling technical concepts into simple business language reinforcing the Calix value proposition. Your technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to frontline sales and solutions engineering teams will help enable and ensure we are delivering world class solutions and capabilities for our customers. Your ability to assist with lab and field trials as required will be highly encouraged. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience in a pre-sales position, and can be a good storyteller on solution value and positioning with confidence.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales technical support of Calix's complex and custom network solutions
Assist in the preparation of responses to RFPs
Deliver technical sales-oriented presentations to customer's technical staff and senior management
Understand business requirements involved with technical account strategy
Assist regional Solutions Engineering in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials
Provide leadership and guide customers on complex technical and operational issues within areas of expertise
Work with customers to design and architect network solutions in alignment with business needs
Deep understanding of the product portfolio to apply the best solutions
Influence's decisions and adept at simplifying our Calix technology concepts
Thought leader and influencer who is fluent in Calix technologies
Mentor and counsel to Calix colleagues and fanatics
Research and stay up to date on the most recent industry standards and trends
Participate in key industry events representing Calix's thought leadership
Qualifications:
10+ years of network related design, consultation and or implementation experience in service provider/enterprise environments
Network migration experience through lifecycle and design evolutions
In-depth knowledge of OSI layer 3 networks and protocols, including broadcast, multicast, anycast concepts, routing, etc.
In-depth knowledge with various routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS)
In-depth knowledge of OSI layer 2 and practical experience, including various flavors of STP, ARP, QOS, etc.
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP
Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to hardware, L3/L2 deployment, application behaviors and TCP stack
Solid understanding of network security methodologies, including but not limited to ACLs, Stateful firewalls, VPNs (tunneling, IPsec, PPTP, etc.)
Experience with Telco/WAN services such as Metro Ethernet, MPLS, DSL, Lit & Dark Fiber, and Cable Internet/Ethernet services including circuit selection and sizing.
Experience with VLAN Stretching technologies (EVPN, VXLAN)
Experience with Network latency testing and mitigation
Ability to provide assessment / audit of existing network, infrastructure & services (circuits, hardware, rack space)
Highly skilled in using Visio and other network documentation
Ability to quickly analyze situations, identify problems, and provide solutions
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and high autonomy
Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience with SDN (Software Defined Networking)
Experience with Cisco IOS XE and XR and ASR router platforms.
