The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) will function and be trained and/or cross-trained in the appropriate department(s): Inpatient and ER, Pulmonary Rehab/ Pulmonary Diagnostics, and Electroencephalography (EEG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity Studies (NCV).The RCP, functioning under medical direction, prescription, clinical pathway and/or protocol is responsible for establishing and achieving therapeutic goals, in the care of patients with cardiopulmonary, neurological or other organ system dysfunctions. This is accomplished through participation in formulating a patient care plan, through the appropriate collection of data, performing a clinical assessment, diagnostic measurements and/or tests, applying therapeutic interventions, and making recommendations to other health team members. For Pulmonary Diagnostics operates a wide variety of electromechanical pulmonary function testing equipment to obtain resting and exercise data relative to the functioning of patient's respiratory processes. Draws, processes, and analyzes arterial blood gas measurements for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders. Treats inpatients and outpatients for a variety of pulmonary tests and prepares reports in preparation for physician for interpretation. For Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation plans, coordinates, and implements the development of exercise and related program for both cardiac and pulmonary rehab. The job duties are to provide assessments and treatments of patients. Performs a wide a variety of non-invasive cardiac and pulmonary tests. Organizes and conducts medically prescribed cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services for inpatients and/or outpatients to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part, improve cardiac and pulmonary healing and assist the patient in reaching his/her maximum possible level of functioning to assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of their disease. Follows guidelines, requirements, and recommendations from AACVPR and ACSM. For EEG, performs routine and complex procedures for inpatients and outpatients to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinic disorders of the nervous system in at least one of the following modalities of neurodiagnostics: Electroencephaelography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring and Polysomnography (PSG), Electromyogram (EMG) and/or Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) testing. Uses an electroencephalograph to take readings to measure brain's activity to diagnose brain disorders or injury by recording electrical impulses of the brain or nervous system. The ability to relate testing knowledge and theory of electroneurodiagnostic procedures and equipment, and the ability to interpret results and isolate the most accurate readings is essential. Innovations improve work procedures and methods and primarily result in some time and cost savings. Work frequently requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange work-related information. Contact with external contacts involves providing or getting factual information.

36 hours per week - FT

7:00AM - 7:30PM

Every third weekend work is required.
