About the Role:

We're looking for a product design leader who will shape the product experience for our consumers. As the Senior Director of Design, you will work closely with the VPs of Product, Engineering to define product strategy and vision while supporting a team of product designers and managers focused on building high-quality, meaningful user experiences. You will partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Legal, and the Acquisition and Retention teams to ensure a unified customer experience across all touchpoints.

You are an evangelist for your UX/designs and have a deep understanding of customer needs, the product, and the competitive landscape. Finally, you are an excellent communicator and build strong cross-functional relationships, internally and externally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Champion, mentor and lead the product design team, creating a user-centered mindset

  • Create a culture of inspiration, insight, and authority on design and user experience

  • Establish an outstanding design practice that incorporates the development of best practices to develop workflows that accelerate the ideation process, and promote a positive, inclusive environment.

  • Partner with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to influence and accelerate the creation, development, and iteration of our products. Champion fast iteration, deep user research, and broad experimentation

  • Provide design direction, mentor, and promote a product development process that raises our product execution and product quality.

  • Manage scope, direction, and delivery of user flows, information architecture, UX copy, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design.

  • Oversee a Design strategy that includes conducting high-quality research that puts the customer at the heart of the decision-making process

EXPERIENCE:


  • 15+ total years of overall design experience, with a substantial portion in product design

  • 6+ years of people management experience - including managing managers for multiple years and teams larger than 25

  • A track record of attracting world-class senior talent and creating high-performing teams

  • Ability to thrive and effectively communicate in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

  • You demonstrate a human-centered approach to design that's inquisitive, strategic, and empathetic

  • You lead with clarity and vision, and you can motivate others to deliver excellent results while keeping them happy and engaged

  • Reliable self-starter who can provide direction to teams and designers at a 40,000 ft. level and at a pixel level (whichever is most needed at the moment)

  • Track record of influencing product and engineering functions to keep user problems top-of-mind and invest in holistic, future-friendly solutions

  • Operationally effective at identifying root causes and then creating and executing well-scoped solutions to address issues

  • You have and can inspire an unbridled passion for clean and elegant solutions - cluttered UIs make you physically uncomfortable

  • Exceptional familiarity with industry design language and standards and design protocols

  • You can develop a strong empathy for the end-user - You know the pain points before they do

  • You love nothing more than to inspire your team to create designs and experiences that delight customers
