Denali Water Solutions is looking for an experienced mechanic to service and repair our equipment on site and in a shop environment.  This position is in Chicago IL. JOB DESCRIPTION:


Summary/Objective:


Under limited supervision, the mechanic position performs work of considerable difficulty in the


repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment; performs related work as assigned.


Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment.

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.

  • Promote strict company standards of safety and enforce all company safety policies and

              procedures.



  • Preserve Company equipment investment via responsible operation, oversight,

             preventative maintenance and repair. Keep equipment clean and professional in


             appearance. No abuse of company equipment will be tolerated.



  • Maintain a hygienic environment and appearance

  • Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.

  • Maintain a service-type attitude and be willing to help other employees fulfill their duties

             and responsibilities, directly or indirectly.

Supervisory Responsibility:


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather


conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet


and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.


The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:



  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and/or move

             up to 50 pounds.



  • Frequently required to walk, use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects,

             tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.



  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.                            

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


Standard work week for full-time employees is five days. Schedules will vary


based on the company’s needs.


Travel:


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight


travel may be expected.


Required Education and Experience:


Within the last 10 years, 5 years’ experience with: heavy equipment, semi-truck, diesel,


Paccar, and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training and


experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.


Skills and knowledge:



  • Able to inspect and diagnose all equipment

  • Repair or replace defective parts or components

  • Keep logs on repairs

  • Maintain tools and equipment

  • Good physical condition

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • ASE certification not required but a plus

  • Hydraulics, Pneumatics, electrical, pumps, etc.

  • Understanding of drawings or schematics

  • Oxygen/acetylene cutting, welding, brazing, electric arc welding, plasma cutter
