Food & Beverage Supervisor
Big Canyon Country Club is currently seeking an experienced Food & Beverage Supervisor to lead and oversee Food & Beverage operations.
Position Purpose: Lead and Oversee Food & Beverage operations
Job Specific Competencies:
Member F&B Satisfaction
Oversees smooth operations of the card rooms Food and Beverage and member areas by pre-planning, training staff, organizing resources and running the floor to ensure maximum results; talks with members to determine opinions on F&B operations; works with employees to learn about problems and comments from members; handles member and guest incidents and complaints and advises Assistant Food and Beverage Director regarding appropriate corrective action; determines areas of operation that need improvement, determines where changes are needed, and takes appropriate immediate action; receives consistently positive reviews from members on events and F&B services.
Planning, Budgeting and Controlling F&B Costs
Assist with the coordination and planning of events in advance to ensure success and maintain communication between departments; work with other departments or member committees in planning successful and well utilized events; review financial status against plan and adjusts future plans as necessary; manage labor to beat or meet budget without compromising service to the members; consistently meets budgetary goals.
Leadership
Delegation and Direction:
Distributes the work load effectively and fairly among the work group; clearly explains the desired objectives, results, measurements and timelines when assigning tasks; empowers employees with clearly defined deliverables; monitors progress and maintains a two-way dialogue on assignments and goals; assures that all standard operating procedures and cost controls are in place and consistently utilized.
Conducts ongoing service training program; mentors, and motivates others for knowledge, skill, and behavior development; acts as a role model for employees; is aware of each subordinate’s career goals and constructs compelling development plans and executes them; creates an environment in which others do their best work; invites input from each person and shares ownership and visibility; Conducts pre-meal meetings with staff; conducts ongoing training and education sessions including on-the-job training and retraining; develops appropriate training and educational materials including checklists and notices to ensure that staff members work safely, efficiently and in compliance with company policies and laws; conducts regular training and education sessions; monitors employees progress and retrains if necessary; updates training, policies and procedures regularly and stays current with training trends and offerings.
Performance Management:
Uses the club Performance Management Process effectively in providing both positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to team members; deals with problem subordinates firmly and in a timely manner without allowing problems to fester; regularly reviews performance and holds timely discussions; deals effectively with resistant and troublesome subordinates and can make difficult decisions about subordinates when all other efforts fail.
Recognizes hard work through celebrating as a department and as individuals; Perpetuates and sustains a culture of appreciation and recognition; Participates in recognition activities such as writing “thank you” cards, kudos, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education: Prefer college degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Experience, certifications, licenses, etc.: Proven food and beverage supervisory experience in fast- paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Country Club.
Physical/Environmental Demands: Requires lifting to 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and work in high temperature kitchens.
Work Environment: Indoor/Outdoor restaurant and locker room environment.
