Field Service Technician at Crane Co in Boston, Massachusetts

We are currently looking for a full-time Field Service Technician to cover Boston and the surrounding area. 

The Field Service Technician will work in coordination with their Branch Sales and Service team and be responsible for servicing, fixing, upgrading and performing preventative maintenance on coin & currency equipment, ATM’s, software and specialized office products.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Service, upgrade and perform preventative maintenance on company equipment

  • Travel by vehicle on a daily basis to client sites

  • Work with branch employees to satisfy client needs

  • Address customer service requests within the specified contract response time

  • Extended Hours Coverage periods and ‘On-Call’ duty where applicable

  • Safeguard and Maintain a balanced vehicle stock parts inventory

  • Upkeep and cleanliness of company issued vehicle including scheduled service intervals

  • Safeguarding of any company issued assets including tablet computer and mobile phone

  • All other duties as required 

Job Requirements:   


  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude

  • Electronics repair experience preferred 

  • Ability to gain access to highly secured environments

  • Occupational licenses may be necessary to obtain depending on territory/accounts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a positive attitude

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to proof your own work 

  • Proficient in iOS, MS Office applications and Windows OS

  • Exceptionally well organized and ability to prioritize your work to meet project deadlines

  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work independently as well as be a proactive team player

  • Required to travel, drive and be on the road servicing equipment at clients 90% of the time 

  • Available for periodic travel to Corporate Office for training classes 

  • Impeccable integrity

  • Able to lift, push or carry a minimum of 50 or more pounds such as large money counting machines and parts in and out of client sites

  • The job requires kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting and squatting to service equipment on the ground up to 60% of the time  

  • Hand and wrist dexterity needed to turn screwdrivers and place parts and equipment   

  • Phone or desk work about 10% of the time doing computer work, bench repair work, parts stocking, tracking service calls and setting up appointments  

  • Ability to stand for long periods up to 75% of the time while servicing some equipment
