Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Restricted Substances & Product Disclosure Project Manager to join our team specializing in Environment for our Corporate Business Unit in Columbus, IN

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:


  • Applies highly specialized knowledge of technical principles and practices to assigned areas and projects by interpreting, communicating and ensuring all environmental regulations and standards are adhered to as they impact the company products, processes, components or facilities.

  • Leads strategy and execution for initiatives focused on emissions compliance, materials compliance, facilities compliance, pollution prevention or resource conservation.

  • Responsible for leading, implementing and supporting key projects targeted at improving environmental compliance for products or facilities.

  • Leads and supports the development and dissemination of policies, programs, tools and practices to manage environmental or compliance risk and leverage opportunity.  Identify improvement opportunities and drive solutions to address these opportunities.  

  • Leads defining and and executing corrective actions and sets strategic direction for a program, technical or discipline. Advises and transfers knowledge of environmental discipline; coach and mentor less experienced practitioners.

  • Makes critical project or product related decisions. Collaborates with industry peers within their discipline.

  • Drives and manages system level requirements for projects or programs.

  • Performs as the local technical expert for one or more engineering or environmental specialties. Solves complex problems impacting multiple projects.

  • Provides consulting services on environmental or compliance issues. Champion the development of environmentally sustainable business practices. Communicates with and influences key external stakeholders and business leaders, escalates compliance issues as appropriate.

  • Communicates metrics progress, potential issues and mitigation plans to key stakeholders at multiple levels, including management review groups, executive sponsors, implementation partners and others.

  • Monitors and measures overall environmental and compliance performance; analyzes results and proposes solutions to identified risks and opportunities.
    Responsible for leading, implementing, prioritizing and supporting large or multiple compliance projects, utilizing sound project management skills to manage the scope, cost and quality of the implementation defined project objectives.  

  • Supports end-users in their efforts to understand environmental requirements. Collaborates with other functions, disciplines and teams to ensure requirements are met.

  • Environmental Acumen - Leverages environmental topics and trends related to air, exhaust, water, waste, sustainability, and/or materials; uses environmental data to solve problems, understand business impact, protect and improve the environment while also making a positive impact in human health and well-being.

  • Regulatory Compliance - Illustrates knowledge of regulatory requirements by identifying compliance issues in daily work; develops and documents mitigation plans that take into account Cummins’ culture to address identified issues to ensure compliance and reduce risks for Cummins and its shareholders.

  • Manages complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

  • Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

  • Instills trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
