The anticipated start date for this position is after June 1, 2021

The Parking Assistant provides first-line customer service to the campus community regarding parking and transportation services. Performs the sale of parking permits, citation payments, balancing cash drawer, collecting and counting visitor parking revenue, preparing daily deposits, SC Voucher approval, and the handling of visitor parking reservations and special requests.


  1. Performs cash-handling activities such as collecting payment for parking permits and citations, processing all monies received by the parking office, balancing all cash drawers, providing cash drawer closing reports to the UHD Cashier's office, preparing monthly pay station deposits

  2. Responsible for direct front-desk customer assistance in a high volume, fast-paced environment; directs and provides information to customers; facilitates the resolution of customer complaints

  3. Maintains integrated parking management system which includes customer information, permit allocations, citations, citation appeals, vehicle information, notifications, access, and revenue control

  4. Issues parking permits to students, faculty, and staff

  5. Utilizes UHD student records system to add parking fees, process refunds, and assign/remove financial holds to/from student financial accounts

  6. Monitors all incoming communications via email and telephone calls, researches and resolves customer problems or recommends solutions to management

  1. Candidates must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment

Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. The position is physically comfortable; an individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. The work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.


Required Education:  High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience:  Minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience. Experience in dealing with the public providing customer service to staff, faculty, students, and visitors

License/Certification:  Texas Drivers License


Experience with parking management software

MS Office (Word and Excel)
