Job Description

SCOPE of WORK

Support the evaluation of existing and new processes and configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices. Must follow applicable engineering standards, methods and procedures utilized by this facility to comply with 14 CFR Part 145 and all other applicable Code of Federal Regulations, manufacturer's specifications and other requirements as applicable. Must meet objectives established by the Director of Engineering in a timely fashion, and fulfill all technical requirements as expected in order to properly support Chromalloy's business goals. Areas of focus: MetLab, Heat Treat Cell and Chemical Cleaning Cell.

CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Areas of focus: MetLab, Heat Treat Cell and Chemical Cleaning Cell.

Support the evaluation, improvement and maintenance of reliable and safe production systems while refining production rates, efficiencies, yields and costs.

Support processes so they work at their optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.

Explore new technologies to develop innovative solutions to counter existing production problems and introduce new concepts to reduce rework, improve process capability and increase production volume while maintaining/improving quality standards.

Support the conduction, review and interpretation of process development experiments to scale in a laboratory by studying test samples and preparing detailed reports on root cause investigations relating to process deficiencies/failures to improve production.

Work with Product Engineers, Cell Managers, Supervisors and production staff to develop profitable and effective production processes.

Support process plans utilized at this facility so they are as defined by the appropriate engineering standards, methods and procedures necessary to comply with 14 CFR Part 145 and all other applicable Code of Federal Regulations, manufacturer's specifications and other requirements as applicable.

Develop detailed root cause investigations reports in support of the investigation of any process deficiencies and failures, and advise on any required corrective actions.

Support process improvement activities within the facility using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques so as to guarantee the highest quality output at the quickest possible turn-around-time and lowest cost.

Support the training and assistance of other employees in the proper procedures and practices to be followed when performing any special processes at this facility.

Understand and implement the procedures and policies set forth in Chromalloy Component Services, Inc.'s Repair Station Manual and Quality Procedures.

Understand and implement the applicable civil aviation regulations as defined by the appropriate regulatory bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA, CAAC, JCAB, etc.).

Report to the Director of Engineering any quality system deficiencies that may result in the release of unairworthy articles or the use of unapproved material.

Support any required customer communication through conference calls, face-to-face meetings, technical reports, etc.

Provide on-site support to customers and/or suppliers, when necessary to support Chromalloy's goals and objectives.

Know how to read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, protractors, radius gages, hardness testers, dial bore gages, thickness gages, Omni gages, go/no-go gages, and micrometers.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor or Graduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering required. Capable of conducting metallographic experiments (e.g., cutting, mounting, polishing, operating optical microscope, operating scanning electron microscope - SEM -, mixing etchants and other solutions, etc.). Thorough understanding of physical metallurgy principles preferably as applied to Nickel based alloys. Sound understanding of chemistry and chemical reactions to troubleshoot chemical cleaning (alkaline) operations. Prior working experience with Six-Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing techniques desired but not mandatory.

CERTIFICATIONS

None required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Strong computer skills in the entire Microsoft Office Professional suite. Ability to utilize Microsoft Project desired but not mandatory. Ability to utilize miniTab desired but not mandatory.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals mandatory. Ability to perform unit conversions among different unit systems mandatory. Ability to perform standard engineering calculations (calculations of area, volume, etc.) mandatory.
