Job Description
The Chief Estimator is responsible for managing, estimating, and bidding in the surrounding area.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
Work with management to track and select projects to bid
Manage the bid team throughout the entire process
Quantifying project components
Visit project to understand site conditions/restrictions
Work on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Primavera Contractor software
Develop a clear understanding of project specifications
Work with procurement to assure that necessary subcontractors and vendors are contacted
Prepare a cost estimate in HCSS for materials, equipment, utilities, timeline, and required workers
Lead bid review meetings with management
Select subcontractors and vendors team and closeout the bid
Advise and assist in preparing bid form, conceptual estimates, negotiated proposals
Review all final estimates to ensure accurateness and completion
Prepare budgets for JD Edwards for projects won
Track historical costs and insure they are used in pricing
Develop policies and procedures related to the bid process
May personally develop estimates for large or complex projects.
Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
And other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of experience as an Estimator in the Heavy Highway Industry
Minimum 5 years of HCSS experience
Previous success in leading an estimating team
JD Edwards experience strongly preferred
Bridge, earthwork, and airport experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Lead and direct the work of others
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
