Purpose:

To manage the new and existing parts within the Product Development Process; ensuring successful product launches at our manufacturing facilities and adherence to MTD's capital budget and production schedule.



Essential Duties:

• Manage new and existing parts within projects as assigned:


• Assist Marketing in creation of tooling estimates during the Feasibility Stage.


• Work closely with Engineering during product development to ensure manufacturability & efficient spend of tooling dollars for both internally and externally produced parts.


• Manage parts through the Product Development lifecycle including:


• Make vs. Buy decisions


• Tool sourcing & tool shop capacity management


• Coordinate new part sourcing by project


• MTD & Vendor production capacities


• Complete stage gate deliverables as assigned by Project Managers


• Schedule, drive materials & conduct MEC pilot(s) as required by project.


• Support plant pilot(s) and production launch. Assist with driving materials if needed.


• Communicate throughout the organization as needed during the work detailed above - serve as a single point of contact for parts within each project.


• Additional Operations Group projects as needed.


• Manage the capital budget associated with each project (tooling and plant)


• Support cost reduction efforts both at CPC and at the plants.


• Participation in RIE / Lean events at both CPC and the plants.


• Support the implementation and execution of the I2R Product Development Process.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong PC skills: Microsoft Office Applications, Infor / MAPICS, Teamcenter.


• Must have excellent planning, organizing & project management skills, focusing on implementation.

Travel:

• Willingness to travel as needed.
