What you will be doing:



  • Handle all types of collection accounts relative to the credit union including but not limited to Consumer Loans, Mortgages, Home Equity Mortgages, Student Loans, Credit Cards and overdrawn accounts.

  • Be goal-oriented and strive to achieve assigned goals and objectives.

  • Be flexible in available work shifts, Collection shifts may involve working both day time and evening shifts that are not consecutive (i.e. 9-5 one day, 10-8 the next day). There may be occasions based on the needs of the department to alter the regular schedule as requested by the Collection’s management team.

  • Generate and maintain daily work Queue from the Collections system. Utilize Business Intelligence reports to identify areas of opportunity that should be focused on.

  • Answer telephone inquiries concerning delinquent (and sometimes current) accounts, and provide counseling to members. Record the information on the collections systems as appropriate.

  • You will speak to members and determine reason for delinquency; using advanced customer service skills and evaluating customers' financial situations and negotiate terms of repayment to bring account(s) current while maintaining quality and accuracy for compliance and excellent customer service.

What we need from you:



  • High School graduate, some college preferred

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Collections

  • PC literate (preferably in MS Word and Excel)

  • Excellent communication and telephone skills

  • Good skills in skip tracing, asset locating, and collection practices (including but not limited to FDCPA and other regulatory requirements).

  • In depth understanding of the Collections business and advanced negotiation skills.
