Reports to the Practice Manager or Director. Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients and assists doctor in all aspects of care following established standards and practices. Performs other activities necessary to the operation of the clinic.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing, current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Indiana, CPR certification, and one year of related nursing experience. One year of medical office nursing experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Requires comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care and competency in performing nursing care procedures, observations, treatments, and techniques used at the clinic. Also requires advanced knowledge of peripheral intravenous (IV) access procedures (i.e. use of cannulation devices, monitoring patient access, etc.).
Requires knowledge of medical equipment and instruments (i.e. IV infusion pumps) to administer patient care and knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe working environment.
Requires analytical ability to assess the patient's needs, interpret data, provide patient care throughout the planned treatment, and to recognize medication allergic reactions (i.e. anaphylactic shock, adverse reactions, fever, chills, etc.).
Demonstrates high level interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, medical staff, patients, family, and the public.
Demonstrates ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations and to do so in a sincere and caring manner.
Requires the organizational skills and office skills (i.e. filing, computer skills, record keeping system, etc.) necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Also requires the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and pay close attention to details.
Working Conditions
Works in a clinic environment with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids, and bloodborne pathogens.
Physical Demands
Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to lift, carry, or transfer up to 50 pounds, to position and lift patients of various sizes and weights, to hold or position objects for prolonged periods of time, etc) to perform the essential functions of the position.
