Duties
• Provide Quality Assurance leadership, direction, and support to the Zeeland Specialty Plant (ZSP).
• Effectively troubleshoot quality related issues and make decisions in a rapid, complex production environment.
• Work cross-functionally with the ZSP team to drive continuous improvement activities to improve and ensure compliance to internal quality and food safety standards and applicable regulations.
• Lead and provide input to ZSP quality deviation investigations, including identification of root cause and development of robust corrective action plans.
• Represent QA on capital project teams to ensure the appropriate quality and food safety systems are in place in the design and throughout the implementation process.
• Work with site Quality leadership to manage day-to-day implementation and execution of the ZSP HACCP program to meet all internal standards, including cGMPs, Master Sanitation Schedule, and Integrated Pest Management.
• Support and participate as needed during site audits and investigations.
• Identify and deploy best practices to improve product quality, productivity, and operational quality.
• Represents Zeeland Quality on new product innovations projects to ensure that new products meet quality and regulatory commitments and requirements.
• Direct manager to ZSP plant sanitarian.

Qualifications
• Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or related degree
• At least 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment in operations, sanitation, or quality assurance/quality control. Microbiological knowledge is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including HACCP principles. Knowledge and experience within an FDA regulated environment preferred.
• Understanding and experience with Quality electronic systems such as SAP, GLIMS, and Optiva.
• Ability to apply basic statistical knowledge, including process capability tools.
• Demonstrates strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrates achievement within a competitive business environment where change in business dynamics plays a major role. The individual must have a track record of proven results and achievement.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills. Able to effectively communicate and influence across multiple levels of the organization and across multiple functional areas, including Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering.
