Golder has a new opportunity for an Environmental Scientist to join our Midland, TX office.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Provide technical support on a variety of environmental compliance, regulatory permitting, site remediation, and emergency spill response projects
Complete subsurface investigations including drilling, geologic/geotechnical logging, and environmental media sampling (soil, surface water, and groundwater)
Perform environmental investigations, collect environmental data, prepare technical reports and maps, and complete permit applications along with other regulatory documents
Perform engineering calculations, cost estimates and data validation
Assist with and prepare SPCC Plans, SWPPPs, Phase I ESAs, and other environmental plans and documents involving air quality, water management, and waste management
Interact with senior Golder staff to meet task, schedule, and budget requirements
Conduct regulatory review and research, along with determining regulatory applicability to processes and problems
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Resources, Geology, or a similar scientific discipline
At least one year of relevant experience
General understanding of the state and federal environmental regulatory structure
Strong skills in mathematics, data analyses, data interpretation, and technical writing
Ability to travel in the US, including travel for extended and frequent assignments
The ability to communicate constructively with contractors, clients, and senior Golder personnel
Desired:
Current OSHA 10-hour and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Experience with implementation of assessment, investigation, remediation and monitoring tasks related to environmental projects
Experience with air-permitting
Experience with oil and gas projects, including pipelines
