Production Training Coordinator



Your task structure



Summary:


The Training Coordinator will oversee the development, planning, organization and record keeping of chemical operator training from onboarding of new employees to evaluation process for ensuring consistent knowledge to all operations personnel. This process includes communication to team members of skill level requirements, monitoring status of established curriculum, reporting and monitoring of training metrics, and working with other departments to evaluate innovative ways to bring new technology and process change to the onboarding education process.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership for establishing and maintaining a safe work environment. Proactively addresses and corrects all unsafe behaviors and conditions.

  • Advocate for responsible care and environmental compliance with production (i.e., spill reporting, hazardous waste inspection).

  • Ensures compliance training and PSM information is current and up to date for all operations personnel.

  • Continually evaluates the training process and procedures for effectiveness and completeness, and updates curriculum, documents, and procedures as needed.

  • Ensures that all required documentation is complete for all employee's training records, data and information.

  • Monitor training records and progression of employees to ensure compliance training is complete and operators are on track with required expectations and regulatory concerns.

  • Participates in incident investigations, process hazard analysis and root cause investigations as required.

  • Computer based program administrator for production employees comprising of documenting training activities, issuing and updating operation procedures and training material for operators as required.

  • Continuously monitors and maintains operator training material and evaluation process.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:


  • Supervises Process Safety Management (PSM) training to chemical and packaging operators to meet regulatory requirements and ensures accurate recordkeeping of such training. Has primary responsibility for all onsite departmental training except Safety/Environmental oriented topics

  • Maintains paper and electronic training file system; has full responsibility for ensuring recordkeeping compliance for both regulatory agencies and internal departments

  • Meet regulatory requirements assigned to this position including OSHA, and DOT.

  • Work with Management, Production Supervisors and Lead Operators to develop and formalizes training programs.

  • Perform ETQ transactions to ensure accuracy of training records, Standard operating procedure updates and follow-up training.

  • Develops training programs to meet process changes, the addition of new equipment, or changes in regulations, or to keep required training fresh and interesting

  • Develop, implement and review training documentation and procedures required for safe operation of process equipment with support of engineering department.

  • Coordinate the training of new hires, specific technology or process operational training activities, new process and equipment implementation training and operator development with Supervisors.

  • Support new projects and product implementation with providing training and information exchange with manufacturing departments.

  • Continuously monitors the training process for effectiveness and looks for innovative ways to bring new technology and process changes to educating operations personnel.

  • Perform periodic audits of standard operating procedures, employee training records, training procedures, operational checklists etc.

  • Support and supplement production process education and training.

Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Demonstrate good time management skills and project management skills

  • Must be an effective communicator.

  • Effective leader and mentor.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision making ability

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • 7+ years of work history in a similar chemical environment as a Chemical Operator or other job function

Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of safety regulations, safe work practices and safety equipment related to production functions.

  • Awareness of hazardous waste regulations and knowledge of requirements for handling hazardous materials.

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.

  • Advance knowledge of operation of all plant processes and auxiliary equipment associated with the manufacturing functions.

  • Successful completion of required regulatory training including OSHA, DOT, RCRA and HAZMAT.

  • Understanding of the learning process and communicates clearly and concisely to effectively assure knowledge is transferred and comprehended.
